Twitter can be an excellent marketing medium. Note that I said marketing and not advertising. If you use Tweets to advertise then you are going to mark yourself as a spammer and ruin your business. However, give good content rich tweets-information that people will use and given time, they are going to follow you back to your website or blog. Content is king and advertising is sudden death.
Of course, for Twitter to be a good marketing platform, you need a ton of followers. Not only followers but targeted followers. Initially, I found the best method was to follow my competition and then follow their followers. I would follow about 20 a day and if they did not follow back, I would unfollow them in about 10 days. This method works extremely well but it is very time consuming and time is something that you have to invest very carefully.
After a while, I decided to try Tweet Tank. Boy, did I get a bunch of followers. Unfortunately, the followers could have cared less about my tweets and along the way I picked up a bunch of spammers. I don’t need Viagra or penile enlargement and I sure don’t need to be spammed. It only took me a few days to realize that untargeted followers were a waste of my time.
