Everyone knows that in order to have a successful business the marketing is what really backs it up. This does not matter what type of business it is. Business to business and business to consumer categories both have to spend money and resources on the marketing plans. Why do companies have to market? This is a pretty obvious answer for many, but companies market to generate leads and create more relationships whether it is with businesses or consumers.

You have probably already realized that there are numerous ways for a business to go about generating leads and gaining potential customers. There are also some wrong ways to go about it as well. For instance if I were a company that sold ADT home security in Alabama, I would not want to have my ad in a phone book in Michigan. Businesses need to be smart about where there are putting their money and efforts. The strategies where you get the most return should involve the most investment.

For the most part, you will see a fair return in online marketing. Social media, SEO, and paid search are the three main components of marketing online, and you will want to make sure that you are in on it to get more lead and the potential for more revenue and growth. Find out more below.

If your company doesn’t have a website that is maintained by professionals who produce fresh content for you on a weekly or even daily basis, then keeping your site current should be a major concern in 2012. A lot of marketing success depends on what clients and potential clients find when they hit the landing page of your company’s site, especially if you sell something, be it product or service. People expect to find content on your site that is relevant to what you have to offer, is concise and easy to read, and compels people to take the next step and place an order: that’s a conversion. But how do you write the perfect blog post? How do you get people to do more than just surf on by?

Fortunately, writing the perfect blog post isn’t as mysterious as all that. Professional content specialists know a few things about blog posting, and they’re happy to share what they’ve learned. Take this infographic, for example. In it, you see a kind of blueprint for writing the kind of content that will catch the right kind of attention for your site. These methods are fairly straightforward, and not only will they lead people to appreciate the work you’ve put into them — they’ll also help your search rankings for the keywords that you need your brand to be associated with. This is only a general outline of an optimized post. There are tons of other great resources for improving your blogging, and you can find them with, you guessed it, a simple Google search.

Greenwashing is a marketing term used to describe the steps a company takes to update its branding and reputation in a way that appeals to the eco-friendly, green minded consumer. This is a valuable demographic to target, since data collected shows these people are willing to pay more for products they believe are “green,” and even go out of their way to demonstrate loyalty to green companies. Greenwashing, then, translates to big dollars in today’s environmentally conscious society. But what is the truth behind these claims?

Let’s examine an infographic that shows us the many ways in which businesses greenwash their products and company reputations. One of the most startling revelations in the graphic below is the comparison between the number of products that are labeled and sold as green, and the number that actually fit that description. There is a lot of deception taking place in marketing right now as companies compete to capitalize on a valuable consumer group that typically spends the money other consumers won’t spend. Shouldn’t they get what they think they are getting? We think so.

Marketing is an important element in any type of business. It does not matter if you are selling cleaning supplies or if you make decorative bows and want people to come look at them. No matter what type of business you are in, marketing is obviously required. Often times businesses can fail due to the fact that there is not enough or no emphases placed on strategic marketing. That is sad, but it is definitely a reality that people need to be aware of.

There are so many different ways to market your brand and business. A lot of people even turn to social media to promote and market their business. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and more have become easy and inexpensive ways to reach out to a large amount of people that likely vary in backgrounds. This gives your business more of an edge. Television, print, and other things of that nature are still important in marketing as well. The only wrong way to market is to not market at all.

Everyone has their own ways and opinions when it comes to marketing, so let’s take a look at what some students think marketing means. Maybe this basic example can encourage you and your business to implement some new procedures into your marketing mix.

Did you realize that using Facebook can be great for your business? Many small and medium sized business owners are finding social media to be an effective way of gaining the sought after attention from target markets that can result in profits and notoriety for your company. Larger corporations like Microsoft and ADT have been using Facebook and other social networks for years now — but the truth is, their reputations go ahead of them. For a small business, building personal relationships with people inside the target market on Facebook can really make a difference in a way that it just won’t for a bigger company.

So, how do you get started building a following for your business on Facebook? What is the right way to market on Facebook, and are there ineffective tactics that should be avoided? What is the best way to start and maintain a “page” on Facebook? How can you find and reach the people who want what you are selling, whether that’s a product, service, or even an idea? Check out the video below for answers to those questions and more.

Having a Google+ brand profile may be a big thing for your company or website in the very near future, especially since Google today announced it has made that available. Having a G+ profile doesn’t automatically translate to higher search engine rankings, or even guarantee inclusion in Google’s search engine. So what can this do for your brand, exactly? How are people feeling about it so far?

The reaction to Google+ business pages so far is mixed, with critics questioning the blatant absence of a number of features that were expected after Google’s repeated assurances that it would be worth the wait. Everyone pretty much thought that Google’s delay in making brand and business pages an option was because these features had to be worked out thoroughly in advance. Unfortunately, the new roll out has failed to wow people. You can learn more about the reaction of people on direct tv.

Still, some of the features are downright awesome, and just because this project is still in some obvious state of infancy doesn’t mean we should write it off. Check out how to create your business’s page in the video below:

Marketing is a difficult business. The success of a given marketing campaign depends on sometimes fickle and unpredictable changes in people, in technology, and in popular perception. No one knew that better, or possibly cared less, than the late Steve Jobs. Even though he passed away almost a week ago, young (at only 56), his legacy as fo-founder and greatest CEO of Apple Computer will be with us forever. Steve Jobs was a temperamental perfectionist who had an uncanny sense of timing. He was charismatic, persuasive, and capable of letting the world know what it wanted, and why. His marketing genius will be remembered and probably studied for years to come.

Here are just a few of Steve Jobs’ highlights from his time bringing Apple back from the brink of failure, making it one of the world’s most valuable companies. His imagination and innovative spirit led to the designs of Apple’s most well loved products; iPod, iPhone, the Mac, iTunes, and iPad. Here is a visual tribute to the master of marketing. Click to expand:

In marketing, a growing trend is the use of local mobile search to drive web site visitors and foot traffic in ways never really thought of before. Marketing is an industry that is changing almost daily, since Google rules the Internet search game. What we are finding out is that Google is leaning more and more towards local search indexing, and a place that is easily found through local search will be more likely to get that extra mobile traffic that other competitors can’t reach.

Why can’t they reach it? Because they aren’t trying. The mobile sector of search has grown exponentially in the last 24 months alone, and more and more mobile devices are being used to search daily. This is expected to be a continuing trend, and is not going away anytime soon. Here is an enjoyable infographic that will let you see a glimpse of what is going on in mobile search and give you a heads up as to why this segment of search marketing is, and will continue to be, so important.

The subject of this post may sound simplistic and far fetched; after all, if anyone really understood how advertising works, we’d all be able to sell dirt to mudpuppies and have done with it. In reality, the effectiveness of advertising depends on countless abstract factors, such as knowing how people will think when presented with a certain idea, or what impact a product and the way in which it is received will have on the targeted audience. The infographic below features an easy to understand breakdown of some of marketing’s most successful endeavors in getting, and keeping, the attention of consumers, dating back to the 1800s. Enjoy!
